York seeks architect for city centre library extension

[A PQQ must be received by 11 November 2011] York City Council is on the hunt for design teams to extend the city’s Central Library

With an aim to improve visitor numbers and expand conservation areas, design teams are sought to deliver the capital scheme while ‘respecting the original style and building fabric’.

The Library’s North East wing will be extended to provide an archive conservation store and workroom, while the contract also requires refurbishment works to the South West wing to accommodate public activity spaces.

The two year contract is due to start 2 January 2012 with a construction budget of £1,500,000.
