I/S Amagerforbrænding plans to replace the existing incineration plant. Therefore a new waste treatment plant will be established comprising a new solid waste incineration plant with 2 approx. 35 tons/hour incinerator lines, a new waste separation plant and an administration/service building. The total expected construction sum will amount to approx. EUR 0.4 billion (DKK 3 billion). The plant is expected to be put into operation in 2016.
I/S Amagerforbrænding wishes the new plant to signal a high architectural and environmental profile, and the purpose of the competition is therefore to obtain proposals to the architectural design of the facades/building envelope of the new building complex.
