[Entries must be submitted by 29 August] A competition has been launched to design a ‘Taiwan Tower’ building in Taichung
The brief is to design a 300 metre tower and museum symbolising the ‘Spirit of Taiwan’.
The two stage competition is open to licensed architects. The tower is planned to include an observatory, restaurant and radio transmissions base.
Located at the Southern tip of Gateway Park, the brief also outlines the design of a museum of approximately 5,000m² dedicated to the development of Taichung City. A further 10,000m² is allotted for affiliated facilities including offices and public facilities.
The design must take account of ‘traditional building languages’ and the ‘environmental characteristics’ of Taichung according to organisers.
Shortlisted entrants proceeding to the second stage will each receive NT$1,500,000 and the winner will be awarded a ‘priority price negotiation right’.
The construction budget of approximately NT$ 6,588,000,000 is subject to approval by the city council.
