Student design competition launched for steel airport concept
[A Notice of Intent must be submitted by 20 January 2012] Launched by the British Constructional Steelwork Association and Tata Steel, proposals are sought for a long-span airport terminal built from steel
This year’s brief is design a medium sized airport terminal building which features spans in excess of 50m, housed on the redundant RAF base at Lydd in Kent.
Proposed schemes must include departure and arrival halls, along with facilities such as check-in desks, retail spaces and public services.
A £2,500 prize fund is up for grabs, to be divided between three winners.
Relevant deadlines:
A Notice of Intent must be submitted by 20 January 2012
Design submissions must be received by 8 June 2012
Winners will be announced July 2012
