Student contest launched for wooden cycle hub in steel city

TRADA has begun a student ideas competition to design a ‘super-cycling hub’ in Sheffield using British timber products

Concept proposals must be able to house 1,000 cycles, revamp the surrounding park and include smaller satellite hubs around the city.

Associated facilities such as retail and workshop space should also be considered alongside changing rooms and a designated cafe.

The schme must use British timber with the top entrants invited to an awards event in September with the winners sharing a prize fund of £5,000.

Hoped to allow ‘creative and adventurous’ concepts, submissions are due before 6 June with a subsequent shortlist of entries to be announced. A full brief is available through the TRADA contest page.
