Slovenian national library design contest launched
[Submissions must be received by 23 March] Slovenia’s Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning has launched an international design competition for a new national and university library in Ljubljana city centre
The new library is planned to be built over the archaeological remains of the Roman settlement Emona.
The design is hoped to reflect ‘local historic characteristics’ and include a reading hall, private areas and book stacks.
Digital resources must be accessible in all public areas and conservation facilities are also required.
A prize fund of €73,000 has been announced. A ‘reimbursement fund’ of €40,000 will also be shared between entrants.
