[Submissions must be received by 15 January 2012] The University of Notre Dame has launched an ideas competition seeking low cost housing proposals for world-wide sites

Organised by the University of Notre Dame’s Open Sourcing the Design of Infrastructure initiative, the contest calls for concept designs to provide better quality shelter worldwide although specific sites are also permitted.

Proposals should target slums and other inadequate housing. Full details will be made available after registration.

A $19,000 prize fund has been announced. The winners will be selected by the judging panel following a public vote.
