RIBA launches comp for £50m flagship Newcastle University project

The RIBA has launched a contest to design Newcastle University’s ‘SAgE’ building for science, agriculture and engineering

Teams are being sought to design the 10,000m² ‘flagship’ project for the Science Central site in Newcastle city centre.

Five architect-led teams ‘based within the European Union with a track record and exceptional design skills in the environment of urban sustainability’ will be shortlisted with each invited to tender with a £5,000 honorarium ready for a stage two presentation.

The £50million budget includes VAT and all fees.

Hopeful teams should include a building services designer, structural engineer and landscape architect.

Stage one submissions must be returned by 10 October through the RIBA contest page.
