National Museums of Scotland Masterplan, Edinburgh

[Requests to participate must be received by 2 December 2011] Architectural services are sought by the National Museums of Scotland for a storage facility and masterplan.

The proposed 4,000m² Port Edgar storage structure will replace the current building and will house the collection ranging from large machinery pieces to archaeological remains.

A budget of £6,400,000 has been announced for the storage structure with a further £2,600,000 for a possible 1800m² extension.

A redevelopment masterplan of the Museum’s centre in Granton is also sought in the brief, with a focus on establishing the site as the National Collection’s only storage area and significantly increasing public access to the stored collections.
