Manchester Co-operative Group headquarters, public realm

The Co-operative Group, with Manchester City Council, is seeking an architect to design the entire public realm for its eight-hectare headquarters development

The winning team will create detailed, costed designs for the early-phase works, and deliver a vision and a materials palette for future phases.

  • Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

Design services, to provide a high quality public realm design solution for public realm across the Manchester masterplan area, including detailed design of a new public square between the new Co-operative Group Head Office and Miller Street and the immediate surrounding area. The design services contract will cover production of plans, material specifications and all other necessary outputs to equivalent of RIBA Stage E to support a further competitive tender for the actual implementation (i.e. build) of the design element. Indicative designs and a detailed finishing palette will also be required for other public squares as identified in the Strategic Regeneration Document and for future phases of public spaces.
