Liget Budapest Projekt design contest begins in Budapest

The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest has launched four separate contests to design new museum buildings inside Budapest City Park

The two-stage competitions are running simultaneously, with teams sought four distinct buildings: a new national gallery; a museum of ethnography; a Hungarian museum of architecture; and a ‘house of music’.

Free to enter, the contest boasts a £714,800 total prize fund with each of the four contests offering a minimum of £32,000 as a first prize.

Stage one submissions should include a technical project description alongside plans and elevations, teams shortlisted for stage two will be notified in July.

The contest official language is English with all documentation available through the contest page.

Once winners have been selected the designs will be procured through a negotiated procedure with delivery expected to follow in 2016.

A submission deadline has been set at 27 May with stage two scheduled to begin in August and complete by December 2014.
