LGBT monument design competition announced

A design contest has been launched for a national monument to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Veterans in Washington DC

The memorial to honour LGBT veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces is planned for a 22m² plot inside the Congressional Cemetery on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

The site will have three aspects: a central monument, a burial space and individual memorials.

Submissions are required to be of sufficient detail that site construction could begin with little or no refinement to the design. They are required to include perspective drawings, elevations, landscaping plans, and cost information.

The deadline for entries is 15 October.

Further information on the competition can be found, here.
