Kiruna City Hall redevelopment, Sweden

[Expressions of interest to be received by 3 December] The Kiruna Municipality in northern Sweden has launched a contest to replace its City Hall

Expressions of interest have been called for as part of a pre-qualification stage. Five architectural teams are to be shortlisted to replace the town’s current hall which has been put at risk by mining activity.

The project seeks schemes which could reuse elements of the existing hall - affectionately known as the ‘Kiruna residents’ living room’ - without creating a copy.

Each of the teams chosen to submit will be entitled to £28,000 and the winner to be taken forward to work on the project’s planning stage or compensated through a ‘fixed fee’.
