International contest for £38m Taiwan passenger terminal launched

The Kinmen County Government in Taiwan has begun an international two stage contest to design a passenger service centre in Shueitou’s South Dock

‘Outstanding international’ and local teams are invited to enter the competition to develop the 52,000m² site.

The works will be phased with the 36,000m² first phase catering for 3.5 million passengers each year. The second phase will increase the capacity to 5 million passengers per year and is expected to complete in December 2017.

The construction budget of £38 million includes areas for departures and arrivals, commercial spaces and necessary supporting facilities.

A fund of £4.1 million will cover all design fees.

Stage one submissions are due 20 January 2014, with documents to be completed through the contest page. The winners will be decided 25 April 2014.
