Hamburg seeks development ideas for motorway land

[Submissions must be received by 25 January 2012] Hamburg has launched an open ideas competition aimed at finding uses for land around and above the city’s proposed motorway network

Proposals are sought for park land and housing to occupy the land above the city’s soon to be laid Altona motorway tunnels.

The motorway is planned to cut through a 3 kilometre stretch of residential areas leaving a 50 hectare competition site.

Pitched as ‘city repair’, the job requires entrants to show how improvements to existing areas could be achieved and how the motorway project could spur new development.

A detailed brief and site maps area be available to applicants following registration.
