Flammable centrepiece sought for Orkney island arts festival

[Entrants to register by 11 December] The Papay Gyro Nights Art Festival is inviting architects to design a combustible festival centrepiece

The Orkney Island of Papa Westray will host an  international ‘bonfire’ competition challenging architects to respond to the festival and local history.

An international competition, ‘Bonfire’ looks specifically to architects to create a piece responding to the festival and local area’s history.

The winners will receive a share of a prize fund and will see their design constructed.

Results will be announced in February during the Papay Gyro Nights 2013 Art Festival on Papa Westray, Orkney with a subsequent exhibition to be held in New York in March.
