Finland opens design contest for housing in the year 2049

[A seminar will be held on site 3 September] The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland is receiving student entries to its 2049 Housing Design Competition

Proposals should explore how rental housing, as either singular buildings or in groups, could look in the year 2049.

The contest site covers the Finnish city of Lahti’s industrial Sopenkorpi district where most buildings date from between 1930 and 1990.

Accommodation should be ‘reasonably priced, ecological, adaptable, innovative, accessible and comfortable.’

The top three entries will share £7,800 in prize money.
