Finland opens design contest for housing in the year 2049
Proposals should explore how rental housing, as either singular buildings or in groups, could look in the year 2049.
The contest site covers the Finnish city of Lahti’s industrial Sopenkorpi district where most buildings date from between 1930 and 1990.
Accommodation should be ‘reasonably priced, ecological, adaptable, innovative, accessible and comfortable.’
The top three entries will share £7,800 in prize money.
Examples and precedent from the AJBL
A seminar will be held on site 3 September
Submissions to be received by 30 November
