Extension to Vienna's University of Applied Arts, Austria

[Requests to participate must be received by 18 October] Vienna’s University of Applied Arts has launched a design competition seeking proposals for a 7,000m2 city centre extension

Although located within the Austrian capital’s world heritage zone, the contest organisers call for future orientated and highly innovative responses.

The university has allocated 46 million for the refubishment of existing buildings and construction of the extension.

Half of the extension will be used for studio space with a further fifth used for offices and the remainder split between workshops, lecture halls, a library and a canteen.

Detailed guidance on the area’s building restrictions and the university’s expansion programme can be found on the competition home page.
