Competitions: Editor's Pick, 30.01.14

BBC announce £15 million build project, Finland’s City of Tempere launch ideas contest and the 2014 Norman Foster Scholarship. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The City of Tampere and the Finnish Transport Agency have launched an ideas competition for a new travel and service centre. Experienced masterplanners are invited to submit ideas for a transport interchange, which also contains elements of public realm, offices and housing. The winner will receive £66,000. [Requests to participate due by 17 February]

The BBC is looking for a team to design a £15 million film lot on an undisclosed site inside the M25 motorway. The practice – which should understand period buildings and be able to replicate damaged, weathered buildings – will develop the ‘E20’ television production site project from RIBA stage D to L. [Requests to participate are due 24 February]

The 2014 RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship is now open to entries. Students enrolled at RIBA-validated schools are eligible to compete for the £6,000 prize, which is themed around the survival of towns or cities. The contest will be judged by Foster and RIBA president Stephen Hodder. [Applications due by 25 April]
