UCL’s Stratford masterplan, Edinburgh University’s research hub and an industrial arts centre in Cincinnati. The Editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

University College London is seeking a masterplanner for its new £1 billion campus project close to the Olympic Park. A Lifschutz Davison Sandilands-designed vision for the 9.3ha site won council support in October. The appointee will submit a planning application and design code for the site. [PQQs to be returned by 20 December]

The University of Edinburgh is on the lookout for an architect-led design team for a £40 million research hub. The 7,700m2 project is expected to start on site in Summer 2014. [Responses must be returned by 18 December]

The American Institute of Architects has launched an international competition for a new industrial arts centre in Cincinnati. Open to students and practising architects, the contest seeks proposals for a mixed-use development comprising 1,600m² of housing and a 2,800m² arts centre. A £1,500 prize fund is available [Registration should be completed by 6 December]
