Competitions: Editor's Pick, 29.09.11

A hospital masterplan in Copenhagen, Luton airport expansion and conceptual structures for New Hampshire’s Beam Camp. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions.

Danish authorities are on the hunt for masterplans for a new hospital complex in the Bispebjerg suburb of Copenhagen. The scheme combines the existing Frederiksberg and Bispebjerg hospitals, creating a new medical centre that will serve more than 400,000 people. [Requests to participate must be received by 28 October]

Luton Airport, the UK’s fifth busiest airport, needs architects to help win planning consent for an expansion that would see it handle 18 million passengers a year, a huge rise from the nine million it served in 2010. Architects are sought to assist in preparing and pursuing planning applications. [Requests to participate should be made before 3 October]

Beam Camp children’s art and building camp in New Hampshire has launched an open brief design contest for parkland structures. With a materials budget of £6,500, the project’s only requirement is that schemes occupy either forested or lakeside sites and can be constructed by a team of 108 guests in less than 50 hours. [Submissions must be received by 31 December]
