Competitions: Editor's Pick 28.10.10

A design competition for a temporary structure in London, a Foreign & Commonwealth Office framework agreement, and housing design for the Swaythling Housing Society; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Living Architecture and Artangel with the SouthbankCentre have launched a design competition for a temporary, one-bedroom structure to be built in Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank Centre, London (pictured).  The structure will remain in place throughout 2012 for up to two guests at a time.  The deadline for submissions is 30 November.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office seeks an architect-led design team to support their worldwide property portfolio.  The supplier is required to provide architectural and lead design consultancy services and may also be called on to provide landscape architecture, interior design, sustainability, space planning, access/disability, Local Planning advice, CDM Coordination and Breeam advice and assessment.  Tenders must be received by 17 November.

The Swaythling Housing Society is looking to establish a framework agreement for architectural services worth £8m over a four-year period as part of a development programme which will see the construction of 2,000 new housing units.  Though the framework is primarily for the provision of new homes, some schemes may involve the procurement of commercial and retail facilities, health and community centres, religious and educational establishments.  Tenders must be received by 15 November.
