Competitions: Editor's Pick 23.09.10
The restoration of Torre Abbey in Torquay, the redevelopment of Keynsham Town Hall and a design competition for the redevelopment of Minneapolis’ upper riverfront; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions
Torbay Council seeks to appoint an architect-led design team to complete the restoration and redesign of the historic Torre Abbey. The design team will be responsible for taking the design of Torre Abbey Phase 2 from RIBA Stage E to completion, including the redevelopment of the Abbey’s galleries and restoration of the historic gardens. The deadline for receipt of tenders is 18 October.
Architects are being sought to overhaul the Town Hall Site in the centre of Keynsham. Bath and North East Somerset Council has announced plans to develop a scheme for the existing site which will see the demolition of existing buildings and replace them with new Council offices, library, One-Stop Shop, retail and car-parking. The deadline for receipt of requests to participate is 4 October.
A design competition has been announced inviting architects and designers to submit proposals for the redevelopment of Minneapolis’ upper riverfront. Proposals are expected to address possibilities for development along the length of the riverfront and to design critical connections from neighbourhoods to and across the river. Entry is by letter of interest, which must be received by 13 October.
