A contest for the UK pavilion in Milan’s 2015 Expo, three sites inside Montreal’s Space for Life Museum and a new conservatoire for Birmingham City University. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Space For Life, Montreal’s largest museum, is looking for teams to compete in a competition for one or all of three projects across its site. Part of a £25 million revamp, each of the contests includes renovation works to existing exhibition buildings alongside ‘innovative’ architecture and pavilions [Entries will be accepted in February]

United Kingdom Trade & Investment has launched a two-stage competition to design the national pavilion at the Milan Expo in 2015. The £6 million structure will be one of 140 national installations addressing the 170ha festival’s ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ theme. A winner will be announced in May [Deadline for expressions of interest 19 February]

Birmingham City University is seeking a design team for a new £35 million conservatoire as part of the city’s Paradise Circus redevelopment. Set to open in 2017, the 12,000m² civic building will feature teaching, rehearsal and recital spaces around a concert venue [Documents should be accessed by 29 January]
