A tower for Taichung in Taiwan, a BioValley masterplan in South Korea and concepts for glass architecture fit for the year 2050: the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Following the Taichung City Urban Park contest, a new competition has been launched to design ‘Taiwan Tower’. The brief is to design a 300 metre tower and museum symbolising the ‘Spirit of Taiwan’. Entries must be submitted by 29 August.

The Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Government in South Korea has launched a competition to masterplan Osong ‘BioValley’. The contest is part of a bid to fill the valley with ‘globally leading’ bio-industries. A total prize fund o fKRW 450,000,000 is available plus a design commission for the winner. The deadline for registration is fast approaching on 21 June.

Every wondered what buildings will look like by the time we are halfway through this century? Japanese company Central Glass has launched an international ideas competition seeking futuristic glass architecture proposals fit for 2050. The competition is open to design professionals and students with a total prize fund of 3,500,000 YEN available. Entries must be received by 1 August.
