A maternity hospital for Dublin, Royal Opera House store design services and a ‘bold, iconic landmark’ in Cambridgeshire. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Fenland District Council in Cambridgeshire has launched a contest to design a ‘bold, iconic landmark’. Entrants are invited to submit residential, commercial or mixed-use schemes for Wisbech town centre. Shortlisted teams will be able to develop their schemes. [Register by 30 August]

The Health Service Executive for Ireland is looking for a team to design a new national maternity unit at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. Anticipated to cater for 10,000 births a year, the building will house 190 single patient rooms, an emergency department, operating theatres and teaching and research facilities. [Expressions of interest are due 6 September]

Design services are required by the Royal Opera House Costume Store in Purfleet, Essex. The appointed team will progress the scheme to RIBA Stage E, while preparing drawings for a design and build contract. The contract has an estimated value of £145,000 and an expected completion date of within three years. [Requests to participate
are due 20 September]
