A new entrance to CERN in Switzerland, a school for Burmese refugees and a £150 million university framework; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The CERN research laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland (pictured) has launched an international competition for architects to design its new €3.8 million public area and entrance. The competition has a CHF200,000 prize fund and the contest languages are French and English. The registration deadline is 24 October.

Building Trust International has invited architects and students to take part in a single-stage design competition to design and build a school for Burmese refugees. Proposals for the 175m2 building should include a reception, six classrooms, a canteen, administrative area and plant room. Entry fees are £25 for students and £95 for architects and the registration deadline is 1 October.

The University of the West of England is on the hunt for architects to deliver refurbishment and new build projects worth up to a total of £150 million as part of a four year framework agreement. Interested parties must complete a PQQ by 9 August.
