Competitions: Editor's Pick, 13.02.14

Liverpool John Moores University’s Copperas Hill Redevelopment, and an events centre inside the Tower of London. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Liverpool John Moores University is looking for an architect for its £80 million Copperas Hill Redevelopment. The winning architect will develop a 40,000m² ‘central hub’ scheme from RIBA Stage 1 to completion in 2019. The project is due to start on site in June.[Completed PQQs due 3 March]

The Wilmotte Foundation has opened a student ideas contest for an events centre inside the Tower of London. Prizes totalling £11,600 will be awarded and shortlisted projects will be on displayed at the 2014 Venice Biennale. The contest is also open to recent graduates. [Submissions must be received by 4 April]

The 2014 Philippe Rotthier European Prize for Architecture is now open for entries. Projects built in the past 10 years may compete for the award, which recognises sustainable projects delivering ‘collective and cultural value’. Set up by Belgian architect Philippe Rotthier in 1982, there is a £24,900 prize fund. Entry is free with submissions welcome in English or French. [Completed applications should be returned by 30 April]
