Two towers for Australia’s Parramatta City, a £60 million new build for Edinburgh University and Bournemouth Pier.The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

Parramatta City Council in New South Wales, Australia, has opened a competition to design two office towers as part of its Parramatta Square project. Four shortlisted teams will receive £17,600 each. The winner will be announced in December 2013. [Entries due 25 October]

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a design team to deliver a new £60 million School of GeoSciences. The teaching and research facility is planned for a 21,000m² site. The team will initially prepare feasibility proposals to RIBA stage B and then continue to completion and Stage L. The build is expected to start on site in spring 2016. [Return PQQs by 31 October]

Bournemouth Borough Council is looking for a multidisciplinary team to work up concept proposals for its £3 million pier approach development scheme. Expected to be led by a landscape designer, the successful team will take the project from RIBA stage E to L with completion expected for March 2015. [Responses must be received by 4 November]
