Albert Sloman Library’s new extension, a masterplan for Edmonton City Centre Airport and a major regeneration project in Torquay; this week’s round-up of top competitions

Those interested in entering the competitions for the University of Essex’s £14 million extension to its Albert Sloman Library or the £10 million ‘landmark building’ for its business school should be aware that ‘awards’ count. Five per cent of the ‘objective selection criteria’ will be given to architectural award-winners. The deadline for receipt of tenders is 31 August.

The city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, needs architects to prepare a masterplan for the area surrounding Edmonton City Centre Airport. Proposals are sought to transform this 217ha pocket of land into a ‘world-class sustainable community’ including parks and open spaces, workplaces, cultural and educational institutions, and connections with a new light railway. The deadline for submissions is 30 June.

Torbay Council in Torquay is on the hunt for tenders from a private-sector partner and design team for a major regeneration and development project, delivering new housing, offices, hotels, and harbour and waterside developments in Torbay. The deadline for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 6 July.
