New Taipei museum of art, the Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Vienna and a Norwegian royal properties framework; the editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The New Taipei City Government in Taiwan has launched an international design competition, calling for plans for a ‘world-class’ museum of art in the city’s Yingge district. The organisers are seeking proposals with a ‘fresh’ look and ‘versatile’ exhibition space. The winning designer receives a US$10,000 prize. The deadline for registrations is 5 August. 

The Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Vienna has launched a design contest for architectural services for the restructuring of parts of its estate. The project includes the construction of a 336-bed nursing home and new housing. The competition language is German and requests to participate must be made by 6 September.

The Norwegian department for government owned royal properties has invited architects to take part in an open tender competition aimed at securing an engineering design services framework covering its buildings. Focusing on future maintenance and construction works, the agreement will last a year with an option to be extended for a further three years on a year by year basis. The 40,000 m2 royal properties portfolio includes: The Royal Palace, Bygdø Kongsgård and Oscarshall Castle. The competition language is Norwegian and requests to participate must be made by 9 August.
