Competitions: Editor's Pick, 06.03.14

A masterplan for Aberdeen city centre, Belfast creative hub and Croydon pop-ups. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions.

Aberdeen City Council is looking for a multi-disciplinary design team to masterplan its city centre and Denburn Valley. The authority wants a ‘visionary and compelling template’ for development over the next 20 years. The scheme plan should also propose a ‘regeneration catalyst’ facility or feature of ‘outstanding architectural quality’. A £750,000 budget has been allocated to the project. Architects services are sought for the detailed design of a new Creative Hub in Belfast city centre. The council wants a team to oversee refurbishment of an existing building. The three-year contract has a budget of £250,000. [Completed PQQs due 24 March]

Croydon Council has launched an open contest for pop-up and meanwhile projects with prize money totalling £7,000. The authority is looking for proposals with ‘flair, innovation and a sound business plan’. The competition is funded by the Mayor of London’s regeneration fund. [Applications by 31 March]
