A students hub in Cork, a new hospital wing in Copenhagen and a waterfront for Vlora city in Albania. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

A two-stage international design contest has been launched for a new £166 million wing for Copenhagen’s Bispebjerg Hospital. A shortlist of three teams will each receive £44,430 and the winner – to be announced in spring 2015 – will receive the same sum again and the design contract. BDP won a contest to masterplan the £430 million hospital last summer [Requests to participate due 8 January 2014]

University College Cork in Ireland is on the lookout for an architect for a 4,500m² student hub. The project will include a 3,000m² new build and 1,500m² refurbishment of the university’s Windle Medical building [Documents available until 18 December with submissions to follow 3 January 2014]

The City of Vlora in Albania has launched an open single-stage contest to design a waterfront promenade. Open to students and professionals, the winners are expected to be contracted to design the scheme [Questions must be communicated by 25 January with submissions set to follow by 28 January 2014]
