Redeveloping the World Health Organisation headquarters, two new Moscow subway stations and a community centre in Calgary. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The World Health Organisation has launched an international design competition to extend and redevelop its Geneva headquarters. The £90 million project will create a new 25,000m² office block and 700-space underground car park to replace several temporary structures surrounding the organisation’s iconic Jean Tschumi-designed home (pictured) [Deadline for registration 19 September]

Moscow has opened an international design contest for two new subway stations. The two-stage comptition seeks proposals for the  Solntsevo and Novoperedelkino stations which are both planned to open in 2017 on the city’s Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line.Ten finalist teams will share a £67,000 prize fund [Deadline for submissions 31 July]

Architecture students and graduates are invited to take part in an open competition for a new community centre at Hillhurst United Church in Calgary, Canada. The contest seeks ‘thoughtful and ambitious’ ideas for a new annex to host community meetings and youth programmes. The winner will receive £1,000 [Deadline for registration 28 August]
