A RIBA design competition for a £13 million college redevelopment, an urban master plan for the city of Hamburg and an international competition for Sebastopol’s new city centre in California. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions.

Launched on behalf of Bird College in Kent, this RIBA lead design competition calls for architects expressions of interest for a £13,000,000 project to bring scattered facilities onto a consolidated and improved site [Requests to participate must be received by 12 October]

Architects are invited to submit masterplan proposals for Hamburg’s Baakenhafen quarter, this double waterfront location is intended to become a family orientated workplace, residential and leisure centre [Requests to participate must be received by 14 September]

The American Institute of Architects along with local sponsors, seek ‘innovative and challenging’ designs for the renewal and redesign of Sebastopol city centre, home to 8,000 people in north California and providing services for 50,000 more [Registration must be completed by 17 October]
