Design contest opens for Norwegian bridge

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has launched a restricted international design competition for a new road bridge over the Nidelva River

Five teams will be shortlisted and invited to prepare designs for the new crossing near Sluppen in Trondheim.

The harbour city and third most populous settlement in Norway currently has eleven road bridges.

Participating teams must have experience of bridge, road and landscape design equivalent in complexity to the proposed project.

Experience and competence will count for 60 per cent of the selection criteria with the remaining weighting focussing on implementation ability.

The tender notice is published in English but prequalification questionnaires must be completed in Norwegian.

The deadline for requests to participate is 8 August.
