Courtauld Institute seeks architect for £17m overhaul

London’s Courtauld Institute of Art is seeking an architect for a £17 million transformation of its headquarters on The Strand

The contract includes the repair and conservation of the Courtauld’s Grade I-listed base inside Somerset House and the delivery of temporary exhibition spaces alongside a new prints gallery.

A new ‘hub’ inside at the centre of the building is also planned alongside refurbished libraries and a remodelled entrance to improved visitor access.

The institute’s research forum will be relocated to improve visibility from the street and the ‘Great Room’ is also earmarked for refurbishment.

Documents are available upon request from robert.thorpe@courtauld.ac.uk until 31 January 2014.
