Contest opens for New York ‘folly’

[Submissions must be received by 7 January 2013] New York’s Socrates Sculpture Park and Architectural League are seeking proposals from architects and designers for a two month residency

The residency will focus on large scale projects and installations, seeking to explore contemporary interpretations of the architectural folly.

A £3,100 production grant will be given to the winner to fund their work. An exhibition is planned to open in June 2013.

International entries are welcome from professionals and students however no additional funds are available to pay for accommodation.

Located inside Queens New York, Socrates Sculpture Park is a waterfront park with applicants expected to propose weathering-resistant installations.
