Contest launched for post-earthquake redesign of Auletta, Italy

[Submissions should be received by 30 January 2012] The Municipality of Auletta has launched an open ideas competition for the future of the city which ws devastated in the 1980 Irpinia earthquake

The contest focuses on three zones: the park; the city as a whole; and the surrounding area. 

Located to the east of the city, the parkland area has been deemed an ‘urban ruins park,’ a budget of 2,500,000 Euros has been allocated for the regeneration of the park and it’s future running.

‘Innovative post-earthquake’ visions for the Italian city are called for with shortlisted entrants set to receive 5,000 Euros and an invitation to a workshop alongside local administration.

The workshop is due to take place four weeks after submissions are received before the project is expected to be put out to public tender late 2012.
