Contest for 'pop-up' public space launched in Chicago

[Submissions are due 15 March] Architecture for Humanity’s Chicago branch has launched a design contest to reinvent public space around the Windy City

Based around four sites inside Chicago, the winning team will receive a $1,000 budget to erect temporary structures open to the public for a twelve month period.

The competition is free to enter and has previously been won by European architects. Contest stage one submissions should focus on encouraging interaction in vacant sites.

Small scale ‘inviting’ pavilions should be considered while ‘objects should not be limited to furniture or seating’.
