Conservation architect sought for £3.5m Pontefract Castle visitor centre

[Request to participate are due before 20 December] Wakefield Metropolitan District Council is seeking RIBA accredited conservation architects to create a new learning and visitor centre at Pontefract Castle in West Yorkshire

A multi disciplinary design team with conservation and heritage expertise is required for the four-year job. The team should include a structural engineer, civil engineer, services engineer and CDM coordinator.

The proposed works include extending and remodelling an arts and craft centre and improvements to the external areas and landscape surrounding the castle.

First built in 1070, the castle has been a ruin since 1644 when it was used as a Royalist base during the English Civil War.
