Chichester Festival Theatre and the masterplanning of Hounslow - the inside track on this week’s most promising competitions
Chichester Festival Theatre is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a bit of refurb and restoration. An architect-led design team is being sought to work on a £10-15 million project to rejuvenate the historic theatre. The appointed team will develop a scheme to RIBA Stages A, B and C and, subject to funding and approval, could also complete refurbishment and extension works. Requests to participate must be received by 21 April.
Entries are now wanted for the 2010 Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award. Last year, Nicholas Hare Architect’s Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College in Birmingham (pictured) won the award. Buildings of any size and budget are eligible if they have ‘helped deliver public services more effectively’. The deadline for entries is 15 April.
Masterplanners and urbanists have until 1 April to meet the pre-qualification deadline to produce a strategic masterplan for Hounslow’s town centre. The masterplan will guide the development of the town in south-west London over the next 20 years.
