Competition launches for high-rise tower concept in Australia

Parramatta City Council in Australia has announced a hi-rise concept competition open to international architects

Practices are invited to design two commercial towers as part of the city’s development project ‘Parramatta Square stages 5 and 6.’

Last summer Grimshaw won the contest to mastermind a new 65-storey tower, housing more than 540 flats, in the same Sydney suburb (see AJ 31.08.13).

The organisers will shortlist four teams with an honorandum of £17,600 going to each.

The winner will be announced in late December 2013 with the council to ‘market the site using competition outcomes.’

Submissions are due 25 October through the Council’s contest page, round two submissions are required before 6 December.
