Civic Square redevelopment, New Zealand
[Registration should be completed by 14 January 2012] Hastings District Council in New Zealand has launched a contest to redesign the city’s civic square
Launched as an ideas competition, a winning proposal to revamp the 20,000m² civic park and accompanying buildings could later be developed if the scheme wins backing.
Proposals might showcase art, culture and local heritage and should aim to increase visitor numbers to the site’s city library and art gallery.
Flexible multifunctional spaces are also required for performance and exhibitions.
The competition has a £4.1 million budget. A final construction budget will be decided if the scheme is approved.
A £7,000 prize fund will be split between the winning three entries and the best student proposal.
Registration should be completed by 14 January 2012
Submissions must be received by 27 January 2012
Winners will be notified March 2012
