Chichester opens street gateway design competition

[Expressions of interest must be received 31 March] Chichester City Centre Partnership has invited designers, artists, architects and landscapers to propose schemes to encourage visitors into the city’s retail side streets

The competition has been launched to support local independent shops along Crane Street, with other areas set to follow including St Martins in 2013.

Proposals must be feasible and ‘respect the local context’ but the open brief has ‘no prescribed expectations’. The current £20,000 budget may be increased by further grants if necessary.

Three shortlisted entries will each receive £500 to develop their proposals, with the winner taking the commission.
