Cambridge University seeks architects for new district

[Submissions must be received by 6 February] The University of Cambridge is seeking architectural and landscape design services for phase one of its north-west Cambridge masterplan

Centred around a ‘mixed academic and urban community’, the masterplan expands the university’s accommodation and research space and aims to create a new ‘district and extension’ to the city.

Architects are requested to submit expressions of interest against specific lots within the plan. Seven lots are available to architects and a further two are open to landscape designers

Three of the lots focus on university accommodation for both students and families. A 1,000m² energy centre, primary school, 500m² community hall and a health centre are split between the remaining lots.

Practices may submit interest in multiple lots though separate applications must be made.

The design stages are expected to commence in mid 2012 with construction planned to complete in 2015.
