Autodesk launches student challenge

Software giants Autodesk have begun a student contest with the challenge of designing a high-performance building

To be in with a chance of winning the $17,500 prize fund, students must design a building using Autodesk software.

Students are tasked with designing a ‘high-performance building’ with a low environmental impact using ‘Building Performance Analysis’ programmes developed by the organisers.

An entry fee of $10 will be required to register with a member of each team then asked to complete a course in the software to gain a BPA certificate, a stipulation of the final submission.

Submissions should include a 1,000 word essay alongside boards showing concept design and sustainable strategies used.

The winners will take home $7,500 of the $17,500 prize fund with the remainder divided among the top five runners up.

Registration must be completed by 1 January 2014 with submissions to follow by 1 April, details on submission requirements are available through the allocated page.
