Architect sought to extend National Museums Scotland archive

National Museums Scotland is on the lookout for an architect to expand its Granton storage facility

The £2 million project will enlarge an existing conservation laboratory and administration building at the National Museums Collection Centre in the Scottish capital.

The project is part of a planned relocation of the prestigious museum’s collections from nearby Port Edgar.

Gareth Hoskins masterplanned the enlarged Granton storage facility and will complete a new 6,000m² archive on the site this summer.

The prestigious museum is seeking an architect-led, multi-disciplinary design team featuring structural, civil and building engineering consultants for the latest laboratory enlargement project.

Five applicants will be invited to compete in the tender phase following the completion of PQQs. The second phase will be evaluated 60 per cent on quality and 40 per cent on cost.

The deadline for requests to participate is 19 June.
