Architect sought for Cornish regional archives

Cornwall Council is on the hunt for an architect-led design team to deliver its £3.5 million Kresen Kernow regional archives project

The chosen team will take the project to RIBA Stage D before a second funding application.

Planned to complete by 2016, the project converts a former brew house at the Redruth Brewery within the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.

The scheme is expected to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating with new build elements reusing materials from buildings currently on site which are planned for demolition.

The archives project is also expected to help regenerate the Redruth area which is recognised as one of the county’s ‘most deprived communities’.

Requests to participate are due before 15 November and can be made by contacting Janet Bowen.
