Aircraft hangars restoration job tendered for Scotland's flight museum

[Tenders to be received by 6 June] National Museums of Scotland is seeking an architect to restore two aircraft hangars at the National Museum of Flight in East Lothian

An architect-led multidisciplinary design team is sought for phase two of the museum’s masterplan which focuses on overhauling hangars two and three at the former RAF base.

The two Second World War hangars, totalling 1,500m², are on a schedule monument site and have been designated buildings of Special Architectural or Historical Interest.

The musem curently uses four disused military aircraft hangars on the East Fortune Airfield.
